Well trained waiting staff really know the menus; the wine list offers a wide range of carefully chosen wines at very fair prices and there's plenty to choose from by the glass.

After hearing ads on the radio about the great new refurbishment of Tatu and that it was now "the place to go" a group of us (7 girls) went there on Saturday night (26/07/08). First impressions were that the place itself looked great but there was a disappointingly poor crowd there. Even with the small crowd there was still a 15/20 minute wait at the bar to get served. The bar staff weren't very friendly apart from one barman and spent more time smashing glasses than actually serving! The crowd picked up slightly about 11ish but the place emptied again an hour later! As for the DJ!!!!!! As the place was almost empty I thought I would request an Abba song and I was told that there was "..no F*cking chance" and ".. I'm not a 40 year old and I wouldn't f*cking play Abba even if I had the CD" Apart from the swearing which was totally uncalled for, the place was dead and it wasn't unreasonable to ask for an Abba song, I thought! Obviously it was uncool! To sum up, we won't be back and that was the feeling amongst a few other people we spoke to.

"I placed a review recently following New Year's Eve in Tatu. I am very happy to say that after speaking directly with the new owners they were more than happy to resolve the situation and even gave me a 50% reduction on the bill!! While even the best restaurant can have an off day, I think it is how management respond that makes a difference.

It great when management accept feedback but in my experience most do little about it. But on this occasion for an owner to go out of their way to contact me and arrange a meeting to address the situation shows a very genuine attempt and clear desire to get things right.

I now understand from our meeting that ownership changed hands again in December, perhaps not an easy time for anyone to take over a business, and a collection of problems the new guys inherited resulted in our party having a less than satisfactory experience. That's fair enough and I completely accept their reasons.

It is clear that the new owners appear to want to create a vibrant and successful bar restaurant and I must say that I came away from a meeting with them very confident that they will. I'll definitely give Tatu another turn in a few weeks and look forward to many good nights out there in future.

I can now emphatically say that my experience of how they handled us from a customer service perspective is first class and am sure the rest will quickly follow. Well done and fair play!"

I went to Tatu with a group of friends on New Year's Eve - 15 in total. It was without doubt the worst meal I have ever had out in Belfast. The food was terrible, four of the party ended up being very ill. The service was worse - the staff dropped so many dishes that i thought I was at a Greek wedding at one stage and at £65 per head it was an absolute rip off. The management refused to do anything about it. Almost £1000 for a meal that was barely edible is a disgrace and the owners should be deeply ashamed.

As for the entertainment, the DJ "forgot" to do a countdown at 12 o'clock. He said the bar man told him the wrong time!! So imagine the scene when you have some half wit who was playing under a TV screen which was showing all the usual images of fireworks going off at Sydney harbour, Big Ben etc with about 100 people shouting at him and pointing to their watches and you have this eejit saying it was only 11.40!

I have never seen a crowd wolf wistle a DJ before on a night like that and doubt there was bar, restauarant or club anywhere in Ireland where there wasn't even an acknowledgement of the New Year.

The whole evening was a complete shambles from start to finish and the management's incapability to act or to attempt to rectify the very many complaints about food, entertainment, bar service made the situations dramtically worse.

I fondly remember the days when Tatu was a great bar. Not any more.

Very, very poor. Tatu used to be a great place...it has been ruined by the new owner! They have also employed very inexperienced bar staff who cannot make a single cocktail! Didn't the old Tatu used to be cocktail heaven?!? We went to Tatu for dinner in September 2007 and were extremely disappointed...practically the whole restaurant complained and at one point I thought a female customer was going to hit the female supervisor. The same female supervisor advised us that she wouldn't even eat food from the kitchen!! Enough said! AVOID TATU AT ALL COSTS!!

As people know this place was closed for months for refurbishment, expectations were high that something special was going to happen.

I was in it a couple of weeks ago since it reopened, and i was a bit disappointed with the result. The front bar looks smaller, and they've covered the walls with dark tacky grey wallpaper. They've also added an extra floor which I think will be a disco/nightclub when it opens. The ceiling in the downstairs bar is thus lower, and looks like any ceiling you would get in any local bar around Belfast.

Also I don't understand why there is a need to be a bouncer watching us from the corner of the bar for the whole night, are they expecting a fight?

The bar still manages to attract the local people, hopefully that'll still be the case in six months time.

The diamond group ruined the place. Used to love goin to that bar, anytime of the day. They better do something interesting when they refurbish it.

Used to be a great place, now resembles the Devenish.... not very welcoming. Gone drastically down hill within the last year....Shame cos it used to be a brilliant night out,

it's ok. the clientele can be mixed, often quite posy. 6/10 is a reasonable mark for it. very difficult to get taxis from this venue at the end of the night, and it is not walking distance from most areas.
